I obtained my general medical degree in 1990 from Selcuk University in Konya, Turkey. Following that, I completed my mandatory general medical and family physician years, as well as my military service, in Turkey. Once I fulfilled these obligations, I came to Hungary for specialist training in ophthalmology.
I spent my residency years at the Department of Ophthalmology I of Semmelweis University in Budapest, among highly experienced instructors and colleagues. I learned Hungarian in about six months in order to be able to communicate with patients.
I passed my specialist exam in 2000. After that, I continued working at the Department of Ophthalmology I for several years, where I gained expertise in additional subfields and began treating patients as a fully qualified ophthalmologist. I became a specialist in eyelid diseases and their plastic surgery at the clinic.
From 2004, I worked at the Budai Irgalmasrendi Hospital as an ophthalmologist in outpatient care and on a 20-bed ward. Later, following the restructuring of the healthcare system, I continued seeing patients at the hospital and performed cataract and eyelid plastic surgeries in day-surgery settings at various locations.
In the spring of 2013, I moved back to my hometown with my family and began working in Izmir, Turkey. At a clinic specializing solely in ophthalmologic diseases, I provided outpatient care and performed a high volume of cataract and eyelid plastic surgeries. I also treated a significant number of pediatric patients—both in outpatient settings and through minor surgical procedures.
I am a member of the Hungarian Ophthalmological Society and maintained my membership even while working abroad. I consistently completed the mandatory continuing education courses in Hungary. In November 2021, I resumed working in Hungary.
I believe that encountering patients from different countries and natural environments has helped me gain experience with a wide variety of conditions and learn effective treatments. In medicine, I find it important that specialists work together to find the best possible solutions. Often, a patient who visits an ophthalmologist ends up in the care of an ENT specialist or neurologist—if properly referred.
For any concerns related to eye disease or vision disturbances (vision correction, excessive tearing, dry eyes, red eyes), it’s worth seeking a consultation. Timely treatment of eye conditions can prevent complications and vision deterioration.
Services offered include:
- Treatment of styes and chalazions – surgical removal if necessary
- Cataract consultations – information on surgical procedures
- Removal and correction of all eyelid and periocular lesions (tumors, scars, warts, growths). Eyelid plastic surgery can restore damaged or abnormal eyelids.
- Drooping or sagging eyelids (ptosis): whether genetic or age-related, sagging skin and fat deposits on the eyelids can alter facial appearance and even cause loss of visual field. Eyelid plastic surgery can not only result in a more youthful appearance and tighter skin but also significantly improve quality of life by expanding the visual field.
- Our ophthalmology specialist is highly experienced in eyelid and periocular conditions, with years of international practice. Their expertise includes a significant number of cases ranging from congenital and juvenile eyelid abnormalities to corrections of drooping upper or lower eyelids, with extensive experience in related procedures and surgeries.
- Our doctor's philosophy is that periocular conditions—unlike general plastic surgery—should ideally be treated by an ophthalmologist, as a thorough understanding of the eye’s anatomy is essential to achieve the best aesthetic and functional outcomes with minimal discomfort and risk.
